For some reason I decided to take screencaps during the process of drawing Innuendo Squad. People have asked be before for a tutorial of how I work, and even though this might not really be a tutorial but more a.. “look at how I work”-thing, I thought it could still be appreciated by someone.

Captains of the Innuendo Squad (2010)
I’ve always had the feeling that River Song is a lot like Jack and John. Not entirely bad, but far from all good. She could very well have been a time agent.
I’ve never really worked with this kind of art, so I had no idea if I was doing alright or if it was way off. A lot of trial and error. It was a LOT of fun though.
River’s outfit is all improvised, while Jack’s is inspired by uniforms from the US civil war. John’s outfit is basically a steampunkified version of the one he’s got in Torchwood.
The lineart is done!
Would love some suggestions when it comes to the background, they’re really not my forte. The plan is that they should be surrounded by a time energy cluster/cloud thing, but there still needs to be something more, something that is half seen behind the time energy. Pretty much like the scene where John first appears in Torchwood.
Dear lord, comic book style is lots of fun but it’s really difficult doing something in a style you’ve never used before. Challenges ftw!
The whole team.
Haha, found this among my Torchwood sketches from last summer.
Her past, my future. Time travel. We keep meeting in the wrong order.
I’m so curious about Doctor/River. For a while, I thought River was future Amy (River Song vs Amy Pond. There’s something similar about those names). They’re both rather badass with a lot of attitude. And both have the horn for the Doc, heh.
What I’ve thought of is that the River we met in the library isn’t quite as annoying as the current one. The library is in her future. Is it simply because she will be more mature by then?
Filming things in the “wrong” order also can throw things off. Like age. It’s not super important, but the current River DOES look older than the one in the library, even though she’s meant to be younger. I kind of had the same issues with the flash backs in the Torchwood episode “Exit Wounds”, especially with Ianto’s flashbacks. He does look quite much older in the flashback that’s supposed to be pre-s1, than he does in the beginning of s1.
Should the script authors plan the plot more ahead to make sure things are shot in a certain order to make the actors’ ages more convincing, or should we as viewers be more accepting?
Have updated my archives a bit again, including the possibility to choose projects by category (digital, traditional, motion, or mixed media). Added a couple of motion pieces, as well as this fierce butler! Don’t understand why I never added him earlier! The picture is from last year.
